A Virginia highway was partially closed after a tractor-trailer overturned in a crash Thursday.

Henrico police said the westbound lanes of Interstate 64 near Interstate 295 were closed “due to a crash involving a tractor-trailer.”

A photo shared on social media shows a truck trailer standing upright in front of a severely damaged road sign.

“When traveling through the area, please find alternate routes as crews work to safely reopen the interstate,” police said.

According to local reports, the incident caused traffic jams several kilometres long.

Police told media the driver was charged with dangerous driving.
