Anthony Iacullo joins Mandelbaum Barrett PC as a partner in the Roseland-based law firm’s litigation and criminal defense practice groups.

A seasoned attorney with nearly three decades of experience, Iacullo has focused his practice on representing clients facing serious criminal charges, such as wire and health care fraud, drug offenses, sexual assault, theft, kidnapping, money laundering and murder.

He has also represented thousands of clients, including several high-profile figures such as:

  • Michael Drewniak, press secretary for former Gov. Chris Christie, at Bridgegate hearings before the House and Senate committees regarding the September 2013 lane closures on the George Washington Bridge
  • Former Asbury Park Mayor Kenneth Saunders charged with corruption in city’s waterfront redevelopment
  • One of two dozen West New York police officers implicated in largest police corruption case in New Jersey history

Prior to joining Mandelbaum, he was a partner for nearly 20 years at Iacullo, Martino & Reintz in Nutley.

Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a criminal defense attorney, he is admitted to practice in New Jersey, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court of New Jersey.

Iacullo also served as an assistant district attorney in the Bergen County District Attorney’s Office from 1992 to 1995. During that time, he handled a range of criminal cases, including high-profile cases involving drug offenses and homicides.

Iacullo, who received his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Seton Hall University, is also active in professional organizations, including the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Criminal Bench-Bar Committee of the Essex County Bar Association and the Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys of New Jersey.

“Unrivaled”

He also received the Criminal Trial Attorney Achievement Award from the Essex County Bar Association and is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

On joining Mandelbaum, Iacullo said, “Criminal defense and litigation in general are multifaceted and have become increasingly complex areas of law, with different types of issues and discoveries woven into the fabric of each case. Mandelbaum Barrett offers extensive resources, as well as the surrounding talent of attorneys and technical staff, to organize and unpack the details of these issues and integrate them into a positive outcome for our clients.”

Robert Scrivo, co-chair of the white-collar and criminal defense law department, remembers becoming friends with Iacullo 30 years ago, when they were both young assistant district attorneys in Bergen County.

“Tony’s courtroom skills have only improved since then, and that’s why today he is considered one of the top trial lawyers in the state. Partnering with Tony and the experience he brings to the firm will add significant value to our criminal and white collar practice and all of our clients. We welcome Tony with open arms,” he said.

Damian Conforti, co-chair of the white-collar and criminal advocacy group, praised Iacullo’s record, saying, “His experience as a trial lawyer is unmatched and his eagerness to take on the next legal challenge is unmatched.”

“Robert and I are incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with Tony… We jumped at the chance to welcome Tony to our team,” he said.
