Two Kentucky Cities Among America’s Worst Drivers

If you are traveling to any of these Kentucky cities, you should watch out for bad drivers.

While Kentucky is full of roads that offer great views and are great for a Sunday drive, we also have some questionable roads throughout the state. Regardless of the road conditions, one thing you should always watch out for is the drivers around you. We’ve all seen the careless drivers on Indiana roads. For some, it’s an almost daily occurrence. You know the kind of drivers I’m talking about, careless drivers weaving through traffic, distracted drivers, speeding, the list goes on. Plus, there are a few cities in the state where driving is a lot more hectic because of the other drivers.

Recently, Consumer Affairs used data from the U.S. Department of Transportation, including the number of fatal crashes, the number of fatalities caused by driving while intoxicated, and the rate of speeding in fatal crashes, to calculate a “crash score” and rank the cities with the worst drivers in America. If you’re wondering which city has the worst drivers in America, it’s Memphis, Tennessee. Now, if you want to know which cities in Kentucky made the list, you may or may not be surprised by the results.

  • Number of road fatalities: 5.41

Lexington Fayette

Crash score: 26.73
Ranking: 82

  • Number of accidents per 100 thousand inhabitants: 11.19
  • Number of accident fatalities: 13.05
  • Number of road fatalities: 4.35
  • Number of deaths with positive blood alcohol test result: 6.84
  • Pedestrian fatalities: 2.18
  • Speeding fatalities: 2.49
