FIA SIMAGIC F4 eSports Regional Tour Week 12 Report: 30 Drivers from Three Regions Qualify for Global Showdown in September – iRacing.com

The FIA SIMAGIC F4 eSports Global Championship Series kicks off this month, with 30 of the region’s best competitors competing in a four-event, eight-race season for a chance to win a share of a $25,000 prize pool. Over the past 12 weeks, the three regions have battled it out to determine the top 10 who will compete in the Global eSports at the end of September.

In the final week of the season, Week 12, the Americas region took on Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, the Asia-Pacific region took on the Suzuka International Racing Course and the Europe region took on the Circuito de Navarra.

AMERICA REGION

The Americas region ended in a whisper last week as key players in the top-10 race either withdrew or failed to achieve a high enough Strength of Field (SoF) score to earn bonus points at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Week 12. Despite this, the top-10 remained exactly the same, with Elvis Rankin taking the title by 86 points over Nicolás Rubilar and 105 points over third-place Michael Janney.

717 iRacers took part, with the best-placed driver being Canadian Ayden Luis Ingratta, who won the SoF race, with an average iRating of 2561, on Monday, the final day of the competition. Leo Ovtcharov won two lower SoF stages during the week, and although he no longer scores points given the down weeks, he is 10th and last in the region’s final standings.

ASIA PACIFIC REGION

Unlike the other two regions, the top 10 drivers had some action in the final week of competition, at Suzuka in Week 12. In a last-ditch effort, Japanese Alejandro Sendra took victory in the best division, 4362 SoF, for 257 championship points. Damon Woods did not participate and had a total of 1892 points going into the final, but it was not enough as Sendra moved into the lead, taking the title by 39 points.

AP had slightly more competitors than the Americas this week, with 813 iRacers taking part in the first-place races. The AP region also had the highest SoF of the week out of the other two regions, with Hayata Asaga and Kazuki Fujita both taking victories in lower SoFs during the week. Shoma Shintani held on to the final spot in the top ten by over 100 points.

EUROPE REGION

Much like the Americas region, the top ten in the Europe region remained exactly the same as it entered the final week, handing the victory to Alejandro Sánchez. The closest battle of all three regions, Sánchez maintained a lead over Gordon Mutch of just 14 points by the end of the season. 2,098 iRacers took part in the Navarra festivities, meaning the Europe region had the highest attendance, but not the highest SoF race of the week.

For good measure, Sánchez also took a victory in the final week, winning the SoF race on Tuesday to earn 208 championship points. Those points would not have been necessary, as he had eight better points results in the previous 11 weeks of competition. Mutch took two wins this week, despite not moving the needle in terms of points. Graham Carroll finishes 10th and the last driver eligible to qualify for The Global Championship will take place at the end of this month.
