Man’s body recovered from Lewisville Lake after suspected drowning over Labor Day weekend

A man’s body was recovered from Lewisville Lake on Monday, about a day after he jumped into the water and failed to resurface.

The man was on the lake about 6:30 p.m. Sunday in a rented boat with friends when he jumped in for a swim, according to a statement from the Lewisville Fire Department. He was not wearing a life jacket and did not resurface.

A park ranger used side-scan sonar to locate his body early Monday evening, and a fire department dive team recovered it around 6 p.m., according to a statement from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The statement said the area of ​​the lake the man jumped into was about 45 feet deep.

The victim’s identity had not been publicly released as of Tuesday morning, although a TPWD statement said he was 23.
