Four people with possible ties to the international gang Tren de Aragua were arrested near a besieged apartment building in Aurora, Colorado.

At least two apartment buildings in Aurora became the subject of media scrutiny last week after surveillance footage appeared online showing armed men breaking down the door of an apartment.

FOX 31 Denver confirmed Tuesday that four were arrested at Ivy Crossing Apartments in Aurora on “various charges,” including drugs and vehicle theft, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office. A total of six people were arrested.

The four were identified as potentially having ties to Tren de Aragua. Law enforcement officers from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Department of Homeland Security patrolled the area surrounding the Ivy Crossing apartment buildings on Aug. 21.

Alleged members of the Tren de Aragua gang took over an apartment building in Aurora, Colorado, and collected rent in exchange for “protection.”

Tren de Aragua is based primarily in Venezuela and has approximately 5,000 members from South America and the United States.

“We’re looking for any violations that we can stop and make contact with someone and address any issues they may have,” Arapahoe County Sheriff Tyler Brown told FOX 31 Denver.

During a checkpoint patrol on August 21, officers from various agencies confiscated a stolen vehicle, ketamine and 750 counterfeit pills.

“We talked about some things happening in our jurisdiction and we came up with a plan,” Brown told FOX 31.

According to one of the residents, the apartment building was completely taken over by alleged gang members, with even the locks changed.
