Sauce Gardner laughs at iShowSpeed, claiming he can beat it in a race

In an exclusive interview with Dexerto, New York Jets star Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner opened up about how he got into Warzone, his dream Call of Duty team, and, perhaps most importantly, whether streamer iShowSpeed would have a chance against him in a race.

After being selected by the Jets in the 2022 NFL Draft, Sauce quickly became one of the standout players at his position, being named Defensive Rookie of the Year, first team All Pro and making the Pro Bowl in each of his first two seasons. He is even the highest-rated cornerback in Madden 25.

Furthermore, Sauce has been vocal and proud about his love for gaming and the world of streaming, playing Warzone and other games with many top streamers.

Sauce Gardner may be one of the best players in the NFL, but he’s no worse at playing.

However, when we talked about these streamers, there was one question Sauce had to answer unequivocally: whether Speed could beat him in a race.

“He’s not faster than me,” Gardner said when his race with Speed was mentioned. “He always says he’s faster than me. He’s fast, he’s an athlete, but he’s not faster than me.”

Speed has proven to be a talented and athletic individual during his streaming career, including running the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds — roughly the same time Sauce ran in 4.41 seconds at the 2022 NFL Combine.

In fact, he’s already taken on Gardner at his own game, as the NFL star failed to defend the streamer during a partnership they forged in early 2024.

They both believe they have a chance of beating each other in a head-to-head race, and it looks like neither will give up the challenge until the race is over and we find out once and for all who is faster.

Sauce isn’t just competitive on his feet, though. He shared which NFL teammates, as well as the league’s best players, he’d like to play Warzone with.

As for pro players, Sauce wanted to be right up there with the best players in the league, a lineup that includes the current Falcons trio of Shifty, Biffle and Soka.

As for his NFL teammates, Sauce said his dream team in Warzone would be JuJu Smith-Schuster, Justin Simmons, and his Jets teammate Isaiah Davis.

Gardner isn’t the only one interested in taking on Speed in the footrace: Jake Paul is willing to bet $25,000 on him competing, and Olympian Eva Swoboda has also invited Speed to race.
