SF stabbing suspect goes on hit-and-run, crashes into SFPD car

A suspect stabbed police yesterday in a destructive chase through San Francisco in which he allegedly “attempted to commit vehicular homicide,” striking several pedestrians. He is also accused of intentionally ramming a police vehicle in Dolores Park before he was eventually captured.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a stabbing in the 400 block of Broderick, near Divisadero. The suspect drove south toward Fell; his alleged victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is accused of hitting several pedestrians and vehicles during his escape. Police have identified “attempted vehicular homicide” and “aggravated vehicular assault on pedestrians and emergency personnel throughout San Francisco.” Several victims were hospitalized.

When a police car approached the suspect’s vehicle in Dolores Park, the suspect reacted by ramming the police car. The officer in the car was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

After a chase, the suspect fled on foot near Carson and Douglass streets in Castro and climbed a tree. After police attempted to de-escalate the situation, the suspect reportedly jumped from the tree and sustained serious injuries.

He remains hospitalized at this time and the investigation into yesterday’s attack is ongoing.
