Ford has announced a recall for 90,736 vehicles equipped with the 2.7-liter or 3.0-liter Nano EcoBoost engine. The engine’s intake valves could break while driving, increasing the risk of engine failure, the NHTSA said.

To address this issue, dealers will replace the engine as needed, at no charge, after the engine cycle test is completed. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be sent out October 7, and owners can contact Ford Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332 (recall number: 24S55).

Toyota is recalling 43,395 2023-2024 Sequoia hybrid SUVs that are equipped with a tow hook cover attached to the rear bumper because the cover can become loose and detach from the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash, the company said in an NHTSA report.

Dealers will replace the tow hook cover and modify the rear bumper at no charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be sent out on October 5, 2024. Owners can contact Toyota Customer Service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota part numbers for this recall are 24TB10 and 24TA10.

Acura Recalls Electric SUVs to Update Braking System

Acura is recalling 4,174 2024 Acura ZDX all-wheel drive electric SUVs because the anti-lock brake system may unexpectedly activate and release brake pressure in the vehicle’s brake system.

Vehicles may exhibit antilock brake hypersensitivity in certain conditions at speeds below 25 mph on dry pavement, the company said in an NHTSA report. Under such conditions, if the ABS erroneously activates and a specific sequence of wheel movements occurs, the vehicle’s ABS will continue to release brake pressure, which could reduce braking performance or the service brakes may become inoperative, increasing the risk of a crash, Acura said.

The electronic brake control module software will be updated via an over-the-air update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be sent out on September 23, 2024. Owners can contact Acura Customer Service at 1-800-382-2238. The Acura number for this recall is UJE.

Jaguar recalls electric vehicles due to battery issues

Jaguar announces recall of 2,760 2019 Jaguar I-Pace electric models due to risk of high-voltage battery overheating.

Owners who previously updated their vehicle with improved diagnostic software under a previous recall may not be protected from the thermal overload condition and should have a new repair performed, the automaker said in the NHTSA report. The vehicle’s thermal overload condition could lead to fire or smoke and result in an increased risk to people in or outside the vehicle, as well as property damage, the company said.

Owners are advised to park and charge their vehicle outdoors and away from buildings until the recall is completed and for 30 days after the recall is completed. As a temporary fix, dealers will update the Battery Energy Control Module software at no charge. A final solution is currently being developed. Owner notification letters are expected to be sent out on October 18, 2024.

Owners can contact Jaguar Customer Service at 1-800-452-4827. The Jaguar telephone number for this recall is H514.

Audi Recalls Electric SUVs Due to Incorrect Brake Assembly

Volkswagen is recalling 206 2019 Audi E-Tron Quattro electric SUVs due to a possible issue where the brake pedal and brake servo mount were incorrectly assembled during production. This could cause the brake pedal to become detached from the brake servo.

In the event of a complete separation of the vehicles, braking will only be possible using the emergency braking function, which is associated with an increased risk of a crash, the company said in a report filed with NHTSA.

Sign of the problem: Drivers may notice an unusual noise or the brake pedal not returning to its original position after pressing and releasing the brake pedal, the automaker said in the report. Volkswagen suggests customers consult their owner’s manual for information on using the emergency braking feature.

Dealers will replace the brake booster at no charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be sent out on October 18, 2024. Owners can contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen’s number for this recall is 46P6.
