The deaths are being investigated as homicides, according to Capt. Victor Cordon of the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety.

A 31-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman were killed. Cordon said their deaths were not related.

The woman was found shot to death in a home in the 1800 block of Broughton Street late in the evening.

The man was shot shortly before 11:30 p.m. in the neighborhood near Broughton Street and Fischer Street, Cordon said.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol assisted in this incident.

The Orangeburg County coroner’s office has not yet released the names of the deceased.
