Kylian Mbappe scores first goal in La Liga, Real Madrid beats Real Betis

Real Madrid head into the international break on the back of a vital 2-0 win over Real Betis in La Liga, courtesy of Kylian Mbappe scoring his first league goal for the club.

Los Blancos remain unbeaten in the 2024/25 season, with two wins and two draws, and are four points behind league leaders Barcelona.

While the players struggled to find their rhythm in the opening weeks of the league campaign, Mbappe’s intervention broke some of the tension as the fans’ attention turned to the French captain.

After failing to score in the first three league matches of the season for the first time in his career, Mbappe turned the tables on the scoresheet late on in the Spanish capital.

There were some frustrations among the home fans as Vinicius Junior’s shot on the post was the most accurate of all the shots by both teams in the first hour of play.

This only heated things up as Mbappe reacted cleverly to a brilliant pass from Federico Valverde.

After breaking free from handcuffs, Mbappe stepped up to the plate and converted the penalty to secure victory for the hosts.

Mbappe will now head to France’s training camp before returning to Real Madrid on September 14 to face Real Sociedad.
