Brazilian club Flamengo are reportedly looking to loan Chelsea youngster Deivid Washington, with the Blues looking to resolve their striker problem.

The transfer window has closed in many countries but some markets remain open and despite some players moving ahead of the deadline last Friday, the Blues are keen to find solutions for a number of other players.

Washington, David Datro Fofana and Angelo Gabriel are three players for whom Chelsea would like to find new homes, whether it be on a temporary or permanent basis.

Flamengo tries to loan Washington

Chelsea signed Washington from Santos last summer and the teenager has made just 25 first-team appearances for the club, with his most appearances coming for the Under-21s, where he has scored six goals in 11 appearances.

It was an eventful day at the end of the transfer window for the striker, who at one point looked set to join sister club Strasbourg for €21m, but those plans fell through, with Chelsea reportedly concerned the Premier League could look into the deal.

Transfers to Strasbourg and Hull fell through on the final day of the transfer period.

It looked like the Brazilian would be loaned to Championship side Hull, but that plan also fell through as there was not enough time to complete the deal.

However, it appears that a solution is now within reach, with Brazilian daily Globo reporting that Flamengo is considering loaning Washington.

The report added that internally Flamengo believed the transfer would be difficult due to Monday’s deadline approaching, but the striker shared a photo on social media of himself on a plane with a Brazilian flag in what could be a sign the transfer was close.

Washington will be hoping a deal gets done as the player simply needs to get back into regular senior action to develop his game and reach the potential Chelsea clearly see in him.
